Mahershala Ali reveals how the blade role is different from his previous roles

Blade The Vampire Slayer star Mahershala Ali says the Marvel role is unlike anything he has encountered before. The beloved actor sat down with Stephen Colbert to talk about his upcoming trip as a cartoon hero. He said: “It feels different, there is definitely an extra layer of pressure that I want to embrace.” For those who are not aware, MCU fans have already gotten a taste of Blade Eternal. But that will not be enough to saturate a rabid fanbase. Ali recognizes all that passion with his comments here. Clearly, Marvel Studios is the biggest game in town. Blade was wildly popular, and the original trilogy remains a fan favorite to this day. The character is also one that people still associate with Wesley Snipes in their heads. So it’s a lot to fight against and leave your mark. But Ali has a bit of a secret weapon. The effortless cool that he almost always radiates just radiates from him when he admits these truths. The star is completely unafraid of all that pressure. The mission remains the same.
“It’s weird, because the expectation is so great,” Ali began. “My enthusiasm for any role is completely honest because I feel the responsibility is always the same. But I have never gone into a role where the expectation was so great. Where people were already so familiar with the character and have real opinions and views and all that. “
Eternal Producer Nate Moore spoke with Comicbook.com’s Phase Zero podcast about the plans for Blade. They had a long discussion at Marvel about how to approach the surprise after credits.
“[Blade] was [part of the scene] for reasons that would hopefully become apparent when you see more things, however [Mahershal Ali] was not there during the day, “Moore said.” And we talked about two versions of it, one where we would cut to him and one where we would not. “How textually do you want it to be?” And again, these would mean that you have to spend for these processes. He loved doing it. Because Ebony Blade, the characteristics of Ebony Blade are not in any way different from vampirism, and we think it’s an interesting kind of thing to play with. So we knew it was on the table. “
Some people wondered if the surprise would have hit harder if Ali was on screen for the cameo. But, Moore says the test indicated it was a bit of a vomit.
He continued: “It was a choice and I’m not sure I think if you asked people we would probably get 50% saying ‘Man, we would love to see Leaves standing in the corner of it rum, ‘and 50% who thought it would be cool just to hear the voice. And that was something we talked about, but again for us it’s like,’ Oh, what will give you more goosebumps? ‘ is our goal. “
