Music legend Clarence Avant’s wife shot and killed during robbery by home invasion

9:44 PT – Law enforcement sources tell us there was security in the home, the security guard was also shelled but did not return fire.

9:20 PT – At least one suspect, the shooter, had entered Avants’ home when he opened fire on Jacqueline … according to sources connected to the investigation. It is unclear how many suspects were involved.

A picture of the home, obtained by NBCLA, shows a smashed glass sliding door … so it looks like that was how the suspects came in.

Clarence before, a legendary music director who has just been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, had a tragedy at home Tuesday night … an invasion of the home where his wife of 54 years – Jacqueline before – was shot and killed … TMZ has learned.

It happened in Trousdale Estates … an advanced area next to Beverly Hills. Law enforcers tell TMZ that Beverly Hills PD was called up at. 02.30 for an invasion of the home. The caller told the sender that someone had been shot. When they arrived, Jackie had already been taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A family source tells us that the people who broke into the house fired shots and hit Jackie. Clarence was home at the time. We do not know if he was injured.

Jackie and Clarence’s daughter is Nicole before, who is married to Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos.

Clarence is known as the Godfather of Black Music. He has been regularly celebrated by people like f Jay-Z and Diddy, LA Reid and Baby face. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame back in October.

Jackie served as president of the Neighbors of Watts, a support group that focused on child care. She was also on the board of UCLA’s International Student Center.

Jacqueline turned 81.
