Ted Cruz Accuses Big Bird of ‘Propaganda’ on COVID Vaccines – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Sesame Street has encouraged young people to be vaccinated for decades – since Senator Ted Cruz was a 2-year-old, in fact.

Still, the Texas Republican has targeted Big Bird to promote COVID-19 vaccines to children and calls it “government propaganda … for your 5-year-old!”After the canary-like 8-foot 2-inch Muppet on Saturday proclaimed that he had been stabbed.

Big Bird, Elmo and Oscar the Grouch have been part of an outreach effort that included a town hall on CNN Saturday morning – the Muppets’ sixth special special since the pandemic began. Afterwards, Big Bird tweeted: “I got the COVID-19 vaccine today! My wing is a little sore, but it will give my body an extra protective boost that keeps me and others healthy.”

Muppets have been promoting COVID-19 shots since the FDA approved the Pfizer / BioNTech formulation last week for children 5-11. They have been promoting vaccinations in general for decades.
