Robinson’s Jeep was involved in a crash, the only accident recorded on the vehicle’s internal system, police said, citing an independent accident report commissioned by the department from San Tan Recon, a Chandler-based collision investigation firm.

Robinson’s vehicle was found in a ravine with significant damage on July 19, police said.

The investigation showed that the jeep accelerated just before the collision, which could indicate an attempt to drive up on the other side of the gorge, where the vehicle was found abandoned and badly damaged.
The report said more than 40 ignition cycles were recorded after the accident, which could indicate the driver attempting to restart the jeep or use its electrical systems. However, it was unclear how many cycles occurred during towing or when investigators downloaded its crash data.

Robinson’s father reported him missing on June 23.

There was a discrepancy of 11 miles between the accident data report and the odometer reading shown, which according to the report was not considered unusual.
“Similar discrepancies have been noted by the Jeep dealer’s service departments and other crashes,” the report said.
