Miley Cyrus Petitions to Make 2010 Bong Video National Holiday on its 11th Anniversary

Miley Cyrus is celebrating its 11th anniversary to bong video that sparked one of her most infamous controversies.
The “Plastic Hearts” singer took to Instagram to celebrate the moment in pop culture with a post that included a screenshot of the original video released by TMZ back in 2010.
“11 years ago,” the 29-year-old wrote the post with a smoke emoji. “Can we request a national holiday?”
The original video of Cyrus smoking sage just five days after her 18th birthday went viral and included teenage star “Hannah Montana” who said she “had a little bit of a bad ride” and broke out in a bouts of giggle.

Back in 2020, the singer marked the 10th anniversary of the controversy by sharing the entire video on her Instagram and reflecting on the specific time in her life.
“Congratulations on the 10th anniversary of the groundbreaking video of a teenager smoking a bong and saying stupid shit to their friends. (Not sure if the director of this fine film should be considered a ‘friend’, but .. .) Time really flew by. ” Cyrus subtitle tribute at the time.
She ended her post: “I remember it like it was yesterday ….. J / KI can not remember shit because I was for hell.
Cyrus apologized for the incident back in 2011 during an interview for a feature on Marie Claire.
“I’m not perfect … I made a mistake … I’m disappointed in myself because I disappointed my fans,” she said at the time.

When asked if she had really regretted the video, as college kids around the country also participated in smoking bongs, the “See You Again” singer replied, “They are not Miley Cyrus. They are not role models. So for me, it’s a bad decision, because of my fans and because of what I stand for. “
Her father Billy Ray Cyrus had also tweeted an apology in 2010, writing, “Sorry guys. I had no idea. I just saw this for the first time myself,” he continued. “I’m so sorry. There’s a lot out of my control right now.”
Although the public backlash was monumental at the time, the incident has since become something Cyrus can clearly point out.
