Josh Duggar Child Porn Trial: Will Footage from Jim Bob’s Security Cameras Be Used in Court?

After months of delays, the trial of Josh Duggar child pornography kicks off in Springdale, Arkansas today.

Although we have not yet received any reports from the first day of the jury selection, a hearing held on Monday made it clear that the prosecution intends to dive into Josh’s vicious past to establish a pattern of predation.

Josh’s father, Jim Bob Duggar, took a stand yesterday, claiming under oath that he remembered few details about the scandal that took place in 2015, when the world was told that Josh had insulted five young girls.

(Four of the victims were Josh’s sisters; the fifth was a babysitter who was employed by his parents.)

It is unclear whether Jim Bob will be asked to take a stand again during the trial, or whether the defense was successful in its efforts to convince the judge that Josh’s past sex crimes have no bearing on the current charges against him.

Already, Judge Timothy L. Brooks has ruled that any discussion of Josh’s previous admission of pornography addiction will not be allowed in court.

It is possible that Judge Brooks will take a similarly vague view of other evidence from Josh’s past that may help shed light on his psyche but is not directly related to recent charges.

If, on the other hand, the judge decides that Josh’s corrupt history is relevant to the prosecution’s case, then the jury may be confronted with an abundance of incriminating information.

And it is possible that some of the evidence may have come from the infamous Duggar connection.

Yes, if you know anything about Jim Bob, then you are probably aware that he keeps his children in a constant state of surveillance to ensure that they are not involved in any “sinful” behavior.

(This is just one of many reasons why observers believe the former TV mogul lied when he claimed ignorance of Josh’s past predation.)

The Duggars have filmed hundreds of hours of footage for their two TLC reality shows, and although it is possible that scenes from 19 Children and counting or Trust could be used against Josh, the rocks that made it into air were generally flattering to the family.

Still, there is a chance that TLC may be sued and forced to provide outtakes from shows.

In addition, eagle-eyed Duggar critics have recently observed that Jim Bob, at the height of his family’s fame, shot quite a few of his own footage.

While examining recently resurrected screenshots from a Duggar Christmas special that aired for the first time in 2014, Reddit users noted that several security cameras can be seen in the background during Josh’s “vacation trip” in the family home.

“Look at what’s on the wall in the background,” wrote one redditor according to The Sun.

“A security camera inside the house. Hmmm why should they need it?” asked another user.

“I think it’s a mix of seeing who enters the house for security reasons and spying on the kids to keep them in line,” read a third.

A fourth user observed that the cameras may have been installed by TLC to capture a bird’s eye view of life in the Duggar home.

“It’s possible they were installed for the show and then just left them there,” this person suggested.

Other commentators noted, however, that aerial photos were never shown on the show, and Jim Bob probably would not have given consent for observation around the clock.

So in all likelihood, the cameras were installed by Jim Bob and it is possible that they are still in place.

The location of the equipment is strange, as security cameras are usually located near exits or outside the home to capture footage of coming and going.

We may never know for sure why Jim Bob felt he needed cameras in his living room.

And we will probably also never know what kind of footage he captured.

Jim Bob’s paranoia is legendary, and it seems unlikely he would have saved any footage that could possibly be used against him or his family.

But hopefully the DA’s office will have no problem building up a case against Josh, even though they are banned from mentioning previous cases of robbery.

It’s a long time for this monster to be held accountable for its crimes.
