I caught a new babysitter ‘trying to strangle’ my baby on the security camera -Kidspot

Shocking footage shows a babysitter allegedly holding a cloth over a baby’s mouth.

Just three days ago, a terrified mother walked into her living room to allegedly catch her new babysitter in doing the unthinkable.

Security camera footage shows the 18-year-old caregiver appears to cover the crying five-month-old boy’s face with a cloth for about 10 seconds while kicking his legs.

One can see the little boy’s mother rushing into the living room to take the baby, and then it seems to continue to ask the babysitter what she had just witnessed at her home in Cruzeiro Velho, in Brazil’s federal district, Monday, November 22nd.

According to the unnamed 33-year-old mother, she then locked herself in a room with her son, asked the babysitter to leave – and then called the Military Police (Brazil’s Preventive Police Force).

“A new babysitter tried to strangle my baby”

The mother was with the babysitter at the time of the alleged incident because it was only her second time she was caring for the baby and she would keep an eye on her to make sure everything would be in order for future childcare options.

The babysitter’s response to the mother at the time, and later told police after her arrest the same day that she was just wiping the baby’s nose.

The young woman told the police that from time to time she worked as a babysitter, and according to her CV – she worked as a sales assistant and also a kindergarten and nursery assistant.

Police arrested babysitter after mother’s hectic call

Fortunately, the little boy was taken for a medical checkup and police said he had no visible injuries.

“I was scared. I did not believe that a human being was capable of doing such a thing,” said the baby’s mother, who reported in the news portal G1.

“He was strangled twice. The suffocation leaves no obvious after-effects, but it can result in neurological sequelae and consequent death.”

The civilian police (Brazilian investigative police) are investigating the case, which it has registered under ‘ill-treatment’.

It is not yet known whether the suspect was remanded in custody.
