A death in a Pleasanton car accident late at night

PLEASANTON, California (CROWN) – Police in Pleasanton report that one person has died after an accident late last night.
Authorities say the victim collided with their Toyota Avalon with a light pole on W. Las Positas Boulevard east of the Hopyard Road intersection.
An investigation concluded that the vehicle was traveling at westbound speed when it hit a center median as the road bent, causing it to turn around on the driver’s side and slide into the light pole. The lamppost hit the car and smashed the roof into the cabin.
A single female resident was pronounced dead at the scene.
A witness to the collision remained at the scene and is cooperating with the officers.
Parts of W. Las Positas Blvd. between Hopeyard Rd. and Coronado Lane was closed for several hours.
It has not yet been determined whether there were drugs or alcohol involved in the incident.
