Woman dies in car accident in Loudoun Co. that was not discovered for 7 hours

A woman died in a car accident early Sunday in Loudoun County, Virginia, which was only discovered about seven hours later, Virginia State Police said Monday.

A woman died in a car accident early Sunday in Loudoun County, Virginia, which was only discovered about seven hours later, Virginia State Police said Monday.

State police have not yet released the woman’s name as they are still notifying her relatives.

Police said the woman was driving west on Route 267, Dulles Greenway Toll Road, and was driving off the road near the Exit 6 ramp to Ashburn Village Boulevard around 1:20 a.m. Sunday, according to security camera footage.

The car then hit “a shock absorber”, continued through the grass along a steep dam and went through thick landscaping before hitting a Washington Metro Power building.

The car was first noticed around noon. 8, police said because it was hidden from the road by landscaping.

Police are still investigating.
