Sparkle dances its way into big problems and difficult choices

The movies keep coming out while things slowly start to return to normal. The latest coming of age movie She paradise has a brand new trailer. This dance drama stars Onessa Nestor, Kimberly Crichton, Chelsey Rampersad, Denisia Latchman and is directed and written by Maya Cozier with additional writing by Melina Brown.

IN She paradise, we meet a 17-year-old girl named Sparkle (Onessa Nestor), who discovers a bold group of Soca dancers at a car show in the streets of Trinidad city center. Immediately she becomes excited and open to the idea of sisterhood and decides to use her wisdom to convince them to take her under their wings. It works because the new group of women brings Sparkle into a wild nightlife with partying, glamor and money. Of course, it’s not just fun and fame. As things get out of control, Sparkle is forced to make some difficult decisions.

She paradise will be available in cinemas and On Demand as well as Digital from November 19, 2021. The film has a playing time of 71 minutes and no official rating has been released. But based on this story I would guess it is PG or PG-13. Can’t see that it has an R rating.

This movie was originally a short film, but after some success, they quickly decided to make it a full feature. Like most growing dance films, dance and music are the key to pushing the story on its way. This film focuses a lot on the dance and music of history.

She Paradise poster

When he saw the trailer, the director really wanted to capture the true feelings and meanings behind this dance style. The filmmaker, Maya Cozier, works really hard while making her directorial debut after a couple of other short films in the past. The script is written by Melina Brown and Maya Cozier. This was originally slated to premiere at the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival last year, and like so many others, the pandemic delays got the best out of it.

Although this story may seem familiar to some with such movies as Become better, The last dance and more, this particular film goes into a style and world that we really haven’t seen much of. A culture that hasn’t been explored very much in movies, and I think that was what they really wanted us to see and capture with the story, the scenery, the music, and of course the dance. So if dance and music are your thing, this is the next movie you should add to your list.
