Armadillo Christmas Bazaar 2021 still personal but will be outdoors

AUSTIN (KXAN) – While still going to be personal, Armadillo Christmas Bazaar is changing again.
Organizers of the event, originally scheduled for a 10-day indoor vacation experience at the Palmer Events Center, said the format “became a challenge for the current climate.”
The bazaar, called Armadillo Bazaar Outside, will now be three days, 17-19. December, and outside the event center from kl. 10 to 17.30 every day.
The organizers made the decision in June to have a personal bazaar — it was virtual in 2020 — and even though the original plan does not work, they are still happy to have the event.
“We worked hard to find an answer on how to bring together our extended Armadillo family while bringing high-quality art to the Austin community,” said Bruce Willenzik, the bazaar’s executive producer. “After seeing how well outdoor shows worked for the artists, we explored this possibility further for Armadillo. Armadillo Christmas Bazaar takes our responsibility to our artists seriously. ”
The organizers say this year’s event has more than 100 artists signed up and more than 30 of them are new to it. There will also be live bands playing 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. daily including Ruthie Foster, Shinyribs, Gina Chavez, Jackie Vinson and more. One of the goals of the event, say the organizers, is to make art accessible and affordable.
Tickets are $ 10 and up can be purchased online or at the ticket office at the Palmer Events Center, located at 900 Barton Springs Road in Austin. Children 12 years and younger participate for free in the event.
