Doctor Strange 2’s Anson Mount Shares BTS Video of Black Bolt’s MCU Return

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star Anson Mount shares a behind-the-scenes video of his return as the Illuminati’s Black Bolt.

Anson Mount, who reprised his role as Blackagar Boltagon / Black Bolt in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, shared a behind-the-scenes photo of his return.

On Twitter, Mount tweeted out a video from his first rehearsal for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The video shows him descending onto some mats as part of a stunt for the film. In the caption, Mount thanked both the stunt team and producer Richie Palmer. He also jokingly noted the set-up gave him a “wedgie.”

Mount first played Black Bolt in the Inhumans TV series, which ran for one eight-episode season in 2017. Created by Scott Buck, Inhumans followed the royal family of the titular group after becoming the victims of a military coup by Maximus (Iwan Rheon). Inhumans, which was originally intended to be a movie, received mostly negative reviews and currently sits at an 11 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. It is not known at this time if Mount will return to play Black Bolt in the future.

In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the titular sorcerer, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, encounters America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez), who has the power to travel the multiverse using star-shaped portals. This draws the attention of Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), who was corrupted by the Darkhold following the events of WandaVision. She starts hunting Chavez to steal her power and get back her lost children. To escape Scarlet Witch, Chavez portals herself and Doctor Strange to Earth-838, which is run by the Illuminati. Black Bolt is a member of that group alongside Karl Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart), Peggy Carter / Captain Carter (Hayley Atwell), Maria Rambeau / Captain Marvel (Lashana Lynch) and Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic (John Krasinski). Black Bolt dies during his confrontation with Scarlet Witch.
