Montgomery County police officer killed in I-70 car accident
A car accident early Monday killed a police officer in Montgomery County, Maryland, along Interstate 70 in Lisbon.
A car accident early Monday killed a police officer in Montgomery County, Maryland, along Interstate 70 in Lisbon.
Lieutenant Daniel John Friz, 50, was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Maryland State Police, a preliminary investigation showed that around 6 p.m. At 12.15 pm, Friz – which was heading west on I-70 near Maryland Route 94 – collided with a 2018 Freightliner.
The truck was inspected in a nearby scale house and turned out to have no defects.
Friz had served as deputy director of the Public Safety Training Academy’s training and education department. Previously, Friz worked for the Gaithersburg police and Montgomery County sheriff’s departments.
