Disney Cruise Line will require passengers aged 5 and up to be vaccinated against COVID-19 from January, extending mandate

Disney Cruise Line announced that all passengers ages 5 and up will be vaccinated against COVID-19 from January, extending its mandate to cover children now eligible for inoculation in the United States.

“When we set sail again, the health and safety of our guests, crew members and crew members is a top priority. Our focus remains on operating our ships in a responsible manner that continues to create magic for everyone on board,” Disney Cruise Line said in a statement.

The claim will begin on January 13, 2022, the company said. Children under 5 years of age must show proof of negative testing between 3 days and 24 hours before departure, and children from 5-11 years of age can complete the test requirements to embark on sailings before 13 January.

The announcement is in line with company policy, which states that all vaccine-eligible guests – as defined by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – must be inoculated with COVID-19 prior to boarding. The US Food and Drug Administration approved in late October that doses of the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine for children aged 5-11 years could be distributed, which received CDC approval.

Evidence of vaccination accepted by the passenger cruise line is that of Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, AstraZeneca, Covishield, Novavax, Sinopharm and Sinovac, the statement said.

The cruise industry has been working to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and has made progress in providing passengers with safe travel through vaccine mandates and additional safety protocols, yet some cases have been reported.

“We are resuming navigation in a gradual, step-by-step approach that emphasizes multiple layers of health and safety measures,” Disney Cruise Line said, citing CDC guidance and medical experts in their decisions.

About 1.9 million children under the age of 12 have received their first dose of vaccine, according to CDC data, and the age group 5-11 accounts for about a third of all new vaccinations over the past two weeks.
