Ashanti shares what Nelly said to her at Fat Joe and Ja Rules ‘Verzuz’, Fans React
Ashanti said her approach with her ex Nelly during Fede Joe and Yes Rule’s The “Verzuz” match on Saturday, September 14th was a “bit awkward”. Fans believe the rapper wants the old thing back after he noticeably approached Ashanti with a hug and smile while standing on stage at the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden.
Ashanti opened up about their brief encounter during an interview on The Angie Martinez Show on Monday, November 15. While many thought Nelly was whispering sweet things in her ear, the 40-year-old admitted that her ex never said a word when they hugged.
“You know what, the crazy part is that he did not say anything,” she said. “First of all, I did not know he wanted to be there. I told Joe, like, “Joe, why don ‘t you tell me he wanted to be there?”
Using his best Fat Joe voice impression, Ashanti continued, “He said, ‘Sis, I know it’s awful.’ He said, ‘I could not risk you not coming if you knew he would be there.’
“It was very unexpected. I had not seen him for six years or more. Spoken or seen,” she said. “It was a little awkward.”
After clips from Ashanti’s interview circulated online, many flooded The Shade Rooms’ Instagram page with comments that Nelly wanted the old thing back.
“That man so wanted a hug,” one person wrote, while another said, “Nelly could not wait. Boy, I swear, I saw him skip a little.”
A third person said, “I’m talking about going all the way over deaaaaa,” while another wrote, “[Nelly] said screw Fat Joe and Ja Rule performance. Move me away lol. “
Ashanti and Nelly dated for nine years before ending their relationship in 2012. Still, many wanted the former couple to reunite after the September night that came almost a month after the reports of Nelly and his longtime boyfriend. Shantel Jackson had divided.
“One thing about Nelly, he fumbled a beautiful woman … hate it for him,” one person wrote. Another quarreled: “Ashanti is unproblematic, untouched and undisturbed,” and took up his new relationship.
“And before you start, SHE WAS ASKED !! Ashanti lived his life. Do not pretend she is inhibiting that man, “wrote another of her defenders.
During the interview, Ashanti also confirmed that she was in a new relationship with someone people “maybe” know. “It’s a situation. I’m fine, we’re fine. [I’m] definitely keep it low and private, ”she said.
The “stupid” singer first mentioned her new relationship during Fat Joe’s Verzuz recap on Instagram Live with Ja Rule and Terror Squad member Remy Ma.
Meanwhile, Nelly has kept quiet since ending a nearly seven-year relationship with TV. personality Shantel Jackson. After the news broke in August, the rapper confirmed with The Shade Room that their relationship ended two years ago.
“Well actually only 5 years, ended 2019 have not been together in the last 2,” Nelly wrote in a comment. “Ok now you know .. .. #FACTS.”
