Ed Sheeran has COVID, will do performances from home

British pop star Ed Sheeran said on Sunday that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and will do interviews and performances from his house while self-isolating.

Sheeran, 30, broke the news on social media days before his new studio album was released.

“Quick remark to tell you that I have unfortunately tested positive for Covid, so I am now isolated and following government guidelines,” Sheeran wrote on Instagram. “This means that I am now not able to plow on with any personal commitments for now, so I do as many of my scheduled interviews / performances as I can from my house. Sorry to everyone I have failed. ”

Representatives did not immediately say which performances he will cancel and which he will perform from home.

Sheeran’s official website shows no performances until April. The four-time Grammy winner’s new studio album is called “=”, which is pronounced “straight” to have on Friday, October 29, and he has a lot to cover, including his marriage, fatherhood and loss. “I see it as my adult record,” he said in a statement. The 14-track album features the hits “Bad Habits” and “Shivers”. In a friendly gesture, Sheeran recently took to Instagram to ask his fans to buy or stream Elton John’s new album and help Rocket Man displace him on the charts. “Who will not be beaten by Elton?” he asked.
