Arceus gets horror movie trailer for Halloween

It is fair to say that the world of Pokémon rarely ventures out into areas that can be considered “adult”. This most family-friendly franchise works extremely hard to ensure, no matter how much the adult interest is, it is always open and accommodating to children. And so today they released a VHS horror short.

Apparently promotional material for next year Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the video features some incredibly blurry, artifact-borne footage of a man exploring the snow-capped hills of the Hisui region. He seems happy at first. He thinks he sees a wild Pokémon. And then the screaming begins.

Whatever it is that very clearly brutally murders this man, he first thinks it’s a Growlithe, but then a Vulpix. Conditions are bad, and although they may sound like very different monsters, they are do has a similar silhouette. But he concludes that it is none of them.

“The tip of the tail is red and swaying,” he notes. As it turns, he exclaims, “it’s cute!” It has white fur on top of the head and around the neck, which is apparently very airy. “Its eyes are round and yellow,” he adds, as if playing Pokémon Trivia, and then at that point, whatever it is attacking and killing him, probably leaves his corpse preserved in the snow for generations to come.

And yes, you would be right in asking, “Um, sorry, I thought Arceus was put in the old days? Where did they get the camcorder footage? “But I answer with two answers.

1) Camcorders ARE from the old days, Grandma.

2) They’re going to have Pokédexes and stuff like that, right? Players do not take notes on slate. So maybe they also had cameras back then?

Clearly more is happening here than first appears, as the associated social media accounts are asking people to “report back with your findings” and add, “they may prove useful during your adventures in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. “And yes, it is clear we have to guess.

It immediately seemed likely to me to be some kind of Charmander, right? Red tip of the tail? But no, airy fur – a Hisui Charmander could not look like that, right? Responses on Twitter seem to suggest a Hisuian Arcanine, while others have suggested a Litleo (certainly not?), And even a variant Flaafy. I mean, it’s crazy, but it can match the description!

Now we have to wait for the really big / ridiculous people to analyze the video for hidden traces in the artifacts, metadata that is only visible via electron microscopes, that sort of thing.

However, the final credit should go to one Johnstone, for this extraordinary piece, presumably created using data analysis and face recognition software:
